About Dr. Kanter
I have been practicing as a psychologist since 1991, and have been in independent practice full time since 2007. I have extensive experience working with older adolescents (17 and up) and adults in individual, couples and group therapy. I provide therapy for people struggling with depression, anxiety, relationship problems, life transitions, body image issues, eating disorders, post-traumatic stress, substance use disorders, people affected by the disease of addiction/alcoholism, and unhealthy coping behaviors.
I provide general psychotherapy. I do not have a specific specialty, but most of my clients are working on improving their ability to utilize healthy, positive coping behaviors. The therapy relationship provides a safe haven for clients to explore their experiences, thoughts and feelings, identify goals and practice new behaviors.
When appropriate, I integrate mindfulness based cognitive therapy in my treatment and have a meditation room in my office suite.
